Skirt Day & Is Gender Relevant?

I decided to follow through with my plan to start wearing skirts to work today. Feeling grateful that I have a job that I can do that at and not get any grief about it. The most commonly asked question of the day was. "So, do you have on underwear?" Somehow I'm not surprised that this was the reaction even though I work in a place that has mostly women. I've come to realize that a lot of women... especially when gathered into groups... can have more of a potty mind than most men. : )

Wearing skirts is not exactly a new thing for me. I started wearing a sarong around 2004. I found that thing to be SUPER comfortable. It was a little while later when I saw this picture of a guy wearing a skirt that the idea really took off for me. (btw... if anyone ever sees a skirt that looks exactly like this one let me know... notice the big pockets)

I've worn skirts when I've felt safe or brave enough to do it since then. But today was the first time I said screw it and wore one to work. One of the main motivators behind it was my desire to live a life that is a lot let compartmentalized. I have grown weary of trying to figure out which part of myself I can present to the world depending on where I am. Its getting old as I'm getting older and I'm feeling pretty done with. So today's gratitude is all about me taking the chance to be a fuller me in a part of my life that I spend 40 hours a week living.
